Accepting applications for Director of the Institut de Génétique Moléculaire de Montpellier
Institute of Molecular Genetics, Montpellier, France

Science at IGMM:
The Institut de Génétique Moléculaire de Montpellier (IGMM, UMR 5535) is a pluri-thematic, state-of-the-art, internationally renowned research centre located on the CNRS’ main campusin the north of Montpellier. The collective ambition of its 18 research groups is to conduct innovative basic and applied research that impacts molecular and cellular biomedicine, particularly in relation to cancer and infectious and genetic diseases. We have a long-standing reputation in the fields of RNA biology, gene regulation & epigenetics, cancer, cell cycle, cell death, immunology, virology, metabolism and gene transfer (https://www.igmm.cnrs.fr).

The campus:
Our campus has a diverse and stimulating mix of research institutes. It includes the Centre of Research in cell Biology of Montpellier (CRBM), Institut de Recherche en Infectiologie de Montpellier (IRIM), the Centre d’Etudes des Maladies Infectieuses et Pharmacologie Anti-Infectieuse (CEMIPAI, a BSL3 facility), the Centre d’Ecologie Fonctionnelle et Evolutive (CEFE), and the Balard Chemistry Centre (Institut des Biomolécules Max Mousseron-IBMM, Institut de Chimie Gerhardt-ICGM). This diverse ecosystem creates a critical mass of ~500 researchers in biology, 800 in chemistry & 400 in environmental sciences. In addition, the unique local infrastructure provides outstanding technological facilities via BioCampus (www.biocampus.cnrs.fr), which manages numerous high-tech platforms (imaging, flow cytometry, proteomics, genomics, viral vector production, DNA combing, mouse/zebrafish/xenopus breeding and experimentation facility, etc).
Via the joint initiative of the directors of IGMM, CRBM, CEMIPAI and IRIM, CNRS Biology (ex INSB) created an administrative support structure (BIOLuM, UAR 5261) to coordinate our collective efforts and to enhance the efficacy of these four physically linked institutes.
